Video Inspection
Video inspection is also called remote inspection. Inspectors do not go to the factory in person, but instead use remote video to guide factory staff to inspect products and take photos according to the inspection process, and complete the inspection report based on the collected evidence of product quality and supply chain management.
What preparations do suppliers and inspectors need to make for video inspection?
Suppliers need to prepare:
- A suitable inspection area should have sufficient lighting, space and a good environment.
- The necessary measuring/testing equipment is used for product inspection and has the necessary calibration certificates.
- A person who is responsible for the entire inspection process - communicating, guiding, operating, etc.
- A photographer of the inspection process and requirements.
- Good media tools - camera, smartphone, social media apps such as WeChat, Tencent, Skype, Zoom, and network support
- Necessary documents, such as process, QSG, instruction book, etc.
Inspectors need to prepare:
- Quiet inspection environment.
- Appropriate media tools - camera, smartphone, social media apps such as WeChat, Tencent, Skype, Zoom, etc., and network support.
- Necessary documents and records (all inspection information)
- Necessary inspection tools, such as barcode scanner, measuring tape, etc.
What is the video inspection process?
Product quantity check
Perform quantity check against factory packing list to count quantity for each SKU/PO.
The inspectors know that the on-site workers randomly select goods from all the bulk goods and record the box numbers. If the inspectors find that the goods selected to the inspection room have been opened or are not the box numbers selected, they will refuse to sample and re-sample.
Product compliance inspection
Conduct product consistency checks based on sample specifications and pictures, including product style, color, etc.
Packaging and labeling inspection
Observe the entire unpacking process step by step and inspect each product package as required.
Basic functional check
Check the basic functions of each product, such as the writing function of a pen, the ignition function of a lighter, the on/off function of electrical products, etc.
Field testing
It is required that all necessary tests that can be performed on site shall be carried out during the video inspection and all test operations shall be carried out by the inspector under the witness of the factory.
